All of this while exploring and celebrating the summer season with gray Cat and his friend.
“Summer Song” packs a ton of non-stop entertainment into a delightful interactive adventure. The joyful story takes readers through a day of summertime fun, encouraging kids to get outside and explore all the wonderful sights and sounds of summer. Gray cat and his friend have a full day of exploration, visiting the park and playing at the playground, going on a picnic, building sandcastles at the beach, and a number of other activities to keep you busy on a beautiful summer day.
The pictures are fabulous! So bright and cheery and certain to put a smile on your face. I loved so many of the illustrations, but I think my favorite might be the page with the ice cream truck because it conjured up memories from my own childhood days, chasing the ice cream man and buying a Bomb Pop!
“Summer Song” is so much more than a story. At the end of the book there is a board game to play. There is also a page full of craft ideas to make. There is an app available to download for an enhanced reading experience, and the Kindle edition allows for on-the-spot interaction featuring several “Listen Here” buttons that incorporates cheery summer songs. I listened to the songs while reading – such a fun, engaging idea!
This is such great story to ignite inspiration in your little ones. Summer is all about adventure – I love that “Summer Song” encourages young readers to get outside and explore, make memories and just enjoy being a kid. A perfect story for parents to read to the younger ages, and the enhanced interactive format makes it a playful way to instill the love of reading in beginning and early readers. FUN!
